Interview: In Conversation with Eugene Sharpe
Eugene Sharpe (@ueeism) is a U.K. based multimedia designer. We got to chat with him about his process, relationship with new media, and how his work is evolving:
Tell us a bit about your work and what you create:
(Virtual chaos Dream state) The process is very difficult to discuss in words because it’s forever changing but I would say I am projecting a nonphysical harmony combination between emotion, colour, and music. Which then I’m taking a mental snapshot of altered states of consciousness and replicating that into a digital form of art.
What aspects of social media do you enjoy as a platform for your artwork? What are some aspects that you find to be limiting?
I wouldn’t say I actually enjoy social media but Instagram would be my preference. It took me awhile to get used to the platform, at first it me feel nauseous and wanting to vomit after posting. I’m a lot better now but I still have that tiny bit of anxiety.
It’s a distraction. There’s a fine line between productivity and binching, sometimes It’s hard to strike a balance.
How has your work evolved over the past 5 years?
I would say more abstract and experimental.
What are some exciting changes you’ve noticed in your particular field of work?
More blending of different styles.
Where do you see your work going?
Maybe VR, I’m not sure technology is always changing.
Is there a particular artist who inspires you, or whose work you’re excited about?
There are so many it’s hard to pick one.
From a small experiment last year November to today 400+ images it’s just crazy
